My work is focused on the natural world, especialy landscapes around my home in the Riverina. I try to capture the spirt of the subjects by using a range of techniques and media.
In 2013 I was shortlisted for the Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize for Arboretum Augustus using ink, crackle medium and acrylic to capture the grandeur of the Eucalpyus tree. This has encouraged me to continue to experiment with semi abstract work based on nature.
Jenny Newbound and Charles Sluga have inspired me to search for variety and looseness in waterclour. I am a friend of the Peter Cullen Trust and have provided artwork for auction in Canberra to raise funds for the development of young scientists, and also provided six large watercolours for the Trust boardroom. I now donate all sales to Sunshine House, a clubhouse in Wagga wagga that supports people with mental health needs.
I have recently won watercolour prizes at regional exhibitions in Coolamon, King Valley and the Snowy River Bush Festival and have been successful in selling work at Deniliquin and the Narrandera Art Shows. |
