I am a Western Australian male who has had a lifelong interest and involvement in the visual arts and crafts. \r\n Post secondary school I studied a Diploma of Fine Art, Western Australian Institute of Technology, I was fortunate to have studied under many notable Australian artists such as Guy Grey-Smith, Ian Wroth. \r\nI worked in the picture framing and commercial gallery scene in Perth, owning my own framing business, Art Presentations. \r\nI moved to rural WA in the early 1980’s participating in numerous mixed exhibitions in Perth and Geraldton. I had a permanent one man exhibition space in my own town during the early 1990’s. I was involved in designing and making furniture using WA hardwoods, mainly Jarrah. \r\n Throughout my life I have had a strong involvement the Western Rock Lobster & Wet Fishing Industries. For a decade and a half I fished the Central West Coastal zone, the infamous Abrolhos Islands and the treacherous Big Bank zone. This work was often performed under very challenging and dangerous conditions. \r\nAfter a decade of volunteer ambulance service as a Senior Officer, Trainer and Administrator, I was very honoured to be made a Member of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, The Priory in Australia. (Order of St John, MStJ), for my ‘exceptional service to my community and humanity’. \r\nFollowing a permanent back injury in late 2013, I returned to full time painting, working mostly in pastel and oils. In 2014, for the first time in my life, I entered a few art prizes. \r\n \r\nRegularly exhibited at Studio 281 in Perth. \r\nBaker Williamson Art Prize 2015 –Finalist and exhibited \r\nPort Hedland Art Prize 2015 - Finalist and exhibited \r\n \r\n ANL Art Awards 2015 – Finalist, exhibited and sold |
