ARTIST BIO

About Me:  (Eva) Louise Alderson.

For as long as I can remember, I have loved to paint & draw. When I was little I always had several colouring books on the go! I also love doing many other different craft-type hobbies. I guess I just love all the wonderful things that can be created with a little inspiration, imagination, patience & much enthusiasm.

In 1996 I attended Folk Art classes, then, with a yearning to expand my painting abilities, went on to Oil Painting lessons for 3 years under artist Gillian Bolwell. In 2005/06 I completed 2 Botanical Sketching & Watercolour Painting courses under artist Susie Parry at Chisholm Institute, sparking a new passion & appreciation for the unique beauty of flowers. Since then I have also discovered that I love to use acrylic paints & with this my artwork has become bigger & bolder.

I once read a quote (by French poet Gerard de Nerval) :

‘ Every flower is a soul blooming in nature.’

Perhaps this is why I am so fascinated & mesmerised by them!
Now I want to share my love of these beautiful souls with you!

I have entered paintings at OLSH Bentleigh Art Exhibition, Emerald Art Exhibition, Derinya Art Exhibition, Brighton Bayside Art Exhibition, Mornington Peninsula Art Show & Morning Sun Vineyard Art Exhibitions. I have entered & sold paintings at Chelsea & Camberwell Rotary Art Shows, I participated in Oxfam’s 2008 ‘Canvas for Change’ campaign, I entered & sold a painting in the 2010 Pink Lady Art Exhibition in Brighton ~ a fundraiser for breast cancer research & I donated a painting to the 2011 IWDA (International Women's Development Agency) 'Bid for Change' Art Auction.

I currently have paintings on display at 'Furama Xclusive Apartments - Legian, Bali, also display and for sale at Villa Rindik, Candidasa, Bali.

As a member of McClelland Guild of Artists, in October 2009 I entered my paintings in the McClelland Guild of Artists 'Biennial Award Exhibition' in Karingal. I won 1st prize  "Best Judged Oil/Acrylic Painting", as judged by Mr Robert Lindsay, Director of McClelland Art Gallery & Sculpture Park.

In January 2010, in Ubud - Bali, I attended a half day one-on-one class with local artist Wayan teaching me the basics of traditional Balinese painting.

In Feb-March 2010 I attended Portraiture & Life Drawing classes under artist Catherine Hamilton at McClelland Guild of Artists studio.

In Feb-March 2011, I was extremely excited to have my first solo exhibition, entitled 'BLOOM'. This was held at B'artiste Lounge in Frankston, Victoria. It was very successful & a dream come true for me!

My 2nd solo exhibition, 'YOUTHFUL SPIRIT', was also at B'artiste, in July-August 2012.

I enjoy travelling with my husband & family & friends. I take many photos while on holidays & these often form inspiration for my artwork. One of my very most favourite things to do is sit & draw beautiful tropical flowers in Bali. Heaven!

My husband & I spend several months a year living in Bali by the sea & the mountains. Soaking up all the wonderful, peaceful, spiritual, artistic culture that is Bali, I  spend much of my time focusing on my art work. Another dream come true for me !

I hope you enjoy my paintings & I hope they brighten your life a little - as that is my intention.

I have certainly enjoyed creating them!

Thank-you for sharing my journey.
